The Worship Wow factor

I really like the song “Cornerstone”.

Especially the last verse:

Then he shall come with trumpet sound

Oh may I then in him be found

Dressed in his righteousness alone

Faultless stand before the throne

Isn’t that incredible. Me with all my faults and failings standing faultless before the throne? How is that possible? Through “Christ alone”. Most people hunger and thirst for righteousness, and go to all sorts of lengths to have it. We argue our case, defend and excuse ourselves, or lower the bar. Other strategies include redefining righteousness or measuring it in a way that makes it look like we have it. Yet all these fail. Righteousness is only found in Jesus Christ. His death and resurrection deals with our failings, sin and unrighteousness, and gifts us with his spotlessness. This transaction takes place through trust. Trusting that he died for us, that we can now live for him, and that one day we will stand faultless before the throne. Oh, the wonder and joy of being found “in him”. Jesus my righteousness.

PS. Another great song:

Turn your eyes upon Jesus.

Look full in his wonderful face

And the things of earth

Will grow strangely dim

In the light of his glory and grace
