Hebrew singing and reading

I have just stumbled across the best way to learn Biblical Hebrew. Let me retrace my steps with you and take you somewhere glorious. I am currently trying to read and translate Jonah 1. You can imagine my delight therefore when I came across this. It’s a guy singing Jonah. So much easier to follow in song than spoken as its much slower and the sounds are produced more clearly.

Some good Hebrew reading / pronunciation practice here though. Like the singer he uses modern pronunciation for waw but otherwise seems helpful. And another form the same chap.

In fact I feel like I am swimming against the tide using Ancient pronunciation for Hebrew. Maybe I should just give up and go with the modern. It’s a bit easier to pronounce too.

I thought I would look for some foot tapping Hebrew music to help me and found some here:

Then stumbled across this gold mine. It’s some amazing, moving, beautiful Messianic Hebrew worship:

I can get quite animated about a graphics card, or animation but there is nothing, nothing as soul satisfyingly wonderful and right and good and ‘just how it should be’ than worshipping Jesus. It is glorious. And hearing it in Hebrew seems so wonderful. In fact hearing it in other languages is really special. I guess thats because Jesus ransomed all the nations and united them in himself. The Bride of Christ does not speak one language but is multilingual and multicultural and multicoloured. Bee-Ee-Ay-utiful!

So cool to be worshipping in Hebrew! HEres another great one:

Here is the Hebrew they are singing with the English underneath. Sing along, it’s amazing!

O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.

Verse 1

Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger.

Verse 2

When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,

Verse 3

what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?

Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.

Verse 4

You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet

all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field

the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas

Who can sing that with more joy and conviction than those who have been forgiven and adopted by the blood of God’s beloved Son.

Here are other great songs by the same people. For most of them you can literally flip open your Hebrew bible and sing along. Now this is the way to learn a language. Worship Jesus with it! Woooooo And I love the way in Hebrew whenever you say salvation it sounds a bit like Jesus.

Behold God is my salvation Is 12:2-3

Psalm 142:1,2 and Psalm 103:1
Behold as the eyes of servants…Psalm 122:2
The Lord is our refuge “Jesus is our messiah, trust in him”
The Spirit and the Bride say come Rev 22:17.
The Lord has anointed me Is 61:1-3:
It’s good to give thanks to the Lord Psalm 91:1-5
He will come to us
